First female Head Professional in PCC history
Grew women’s golf at Pinehurst exponentially
Ladies 9 & Wine was my biggest passion during my tenure at Pinehurst. I started running this program fully in 2019, every Tuesday we would have about 10 or 15 ladies show up each week. I revamped the registration, prizes, format, F&B offerings and within a year we had over 100 ladies signing up for this each week through Golf Genius. We would rotate Courses 1, 3, or 5 each week along with working closely with our F&B team in BEO meetings to change up our offerings and tweak menus when necessary. Our Kick-Off & Finale events we hosted on No. 2 & 4.
I enrolled ladies in a program called Learn Golf in One Day which was a stepping stone for them to participate in the 9 & Wine program.
These ladies went directly from never touching a club, to feeling confident coming out of class to have the next steps whether it was signing up for a supervised practice, getting a few friends and playing in 9 & Wine together.
It was so fulfilling to watch my students go through this progression of programs - Learn Golf in One Day, 9 & Wine, Chippers (Ladies 9 Hole League), Birdies (Ladies 18 Hole League), WGA.
Hosted the largest Women’s Golf Day event in the world in 2021 and received the Women’s Golf Day “Inspire Action” award from Elisa Gaudet, WGD Founder. Article Link
“In 2021, Gabby Weiss, Head Golf Professional for Pinehurst Country Club, safely hosted 120 women at her course despite the challenges of the pandemic. “On behalf of Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, I am thrilled to accept this award,” Weiss stated. “Growing women’s golf at our facility has been a goal of mine since I started in 2018. We have created so many new golfers and connected them with new friends & avenues to play the game at the ‘Cradle of American Golf.’”
Honorary Silver Foils Member, elected in December 2021.
The Silver Foils, Inc., a nonprofit organization, was founded in 1909. The Silver Foils organization is recognized as one of the first women’s amateur golf associations in the United States. The history of the Silver Foils is closely interwoven with the history of Pinehurst and the emergence of golf as a sport for women. The Foils promote interest in women’s golf based on pleasure in playing the game with fellow members and respect for the rules and traditions of golf.
Honorary Silver Foils Members include: Annika Sorenstam, Peggy Kirk Bell, Donna Andrews, Mrs. Donald Ross.
Pinehurst Resort Role:
Assumed responsibility in the golf shop by scheduling starting times and conducting sales transactions
Was trained on Agylisis POS System for our resort tee sheet & sales. All member information, tee times, weather conditions, etc. were all updated and booked through Club Essentials until 2022.
Ran corporate outings at the main club (No. 1-5) with the largest being the Annual R.J. Reynolds event held on courses No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 that we would stage our cart fleet of 330 between the main club and No. 7
Rotate between the professional staff each week for “Nite Lite” golf for corporate groups at the Carolina Hotel, Thistle Dhu, Donald Ross House (3rd Green of No. 2).
Responsible for creating a report for all resort departments called the Weekly Activity Report
Each week, I would go through our tee sheet on every course (No. 1-9) and write up the tee time spread for each day, along with what event was happening on each golf course
This report was essential for our starter/ranger team, cart staff, beverage carts, halfway houses, club storage team, etc. and they are still using this report today.
Was the only female Main Golf Shop Assistant Golf Professional at the time I started in May of 2018. Assisted with a majority of the ladies outings, slowly getting exposure to the membership and all their programming.
Through networking events in the Carolinas Section, I created my connection with PGA Magazine to host several PGA Magazine Women’s Leadership Platform events at the resort. Responsible for hosting a ladies member event having a dozen PGA & LPGA professionals travel in to be a part of the activities & clinic.
